John Goldsmith - Grocer and Druggist.
Maggs records that the premises, which Goldsmith rents,
are owned by James Jermyn of Reydon,
the High Steward of Southwold. Goldsmith's
business fails in April this year, and not for the
first time... his previous business failed in 1827.
He dies in 1842. (M)

Mr White - Grocer, enjoys little
better success and goes out of business himself two
years later. (M)
1838
Henry Gayfer succeeds Mr White and
continues for the next eight years. Maggs doesn't
record the nature of his shop but, in 1846, he departs
to run a 'general shop' at Higham on the Norfolk Broads
and later emigrates to America. (M)
1846
Thomas R Strange - Baker, takes over
the rental. The building has meanwhile changed ownership,
from James Jermyn to Miss Lydia Wales. The
business lasts just over a year. (M)
